Amazon launched offline videos somewhere around last September, so how could Netflix be lagging behind? Hence today just some hours ago they answered our age-old question, How To Download Movies On Netflix by officially launching Netflix “offline” feature.

Well, it’s not like an “offline” app or something, but it does let you watch series and movies offline, without requiring an active internet connection!

And the best part is, we got some of our most favorite series on the offline list. Including Stranger things, Breaking bad and lots more.

So today after years of desperate waiting and rumors, our prayers finally were answered by the Internet Gods (if they exist) and hence we now know how to record and download Netflix Movies/Episodes offline. So bottom line, now you can watch Netflix offline.

What’s Inside:-

  • What is Netflix offline?
  • What’s needed to watch Netflix offline?
  • How to watch Netflix offline?
  • Advanced features.
  • How to access the downloaded files?
  • How to delete downloaded videos?

What is Netflix Offline?

Here’s the official statement from the Netflix team about what exactly the Netflix offline thing does for you “many favorite streaming series and movies are already available for download, with more on the way.”.

So two things I can gather from this statement is:-

  • Not “all” the movies and series are available to download offline right away.
  • Some movies and series are available and more are being added, meaning soon almost the whole of the database or a majority of it should be available for offline download.

Series and Movies Included in the Netflix Offline Feature Right Now:-

  • Stranger Things
  • Breaking Bad
  • Orange Is the New Black.
  • Narcos
  • The Crown
  • You’ve Got Mad Men
  • Paddington and Minions
  • Kung Fu Panda 3
  • And over a dozen others.

So from this list itself, I can say that all the movies and series on the Netflix offline available for download feature would be worth our time.

What’s Needed to Watch Netflix Offline?

Well, it, of course, doesn’t support “all” the OS and devices, but the good news is I’m sure 99% of you on this page already meet the requirements unless of course, you own a 2002 smartphone. (Did they even exist back then?)

At the moment, the following operating systems are required:-

  • iOS 8 or 8+
  • Android 4.4.2 or later.

And of course, you’ll need to update your Netflix apps right now if you want to watch Netflix offline. How to download Netflix?

How to Update your iOS app for Netflix?

  • Open “App Store”.
  • Tap on the “updates” menu.
  • Tap on “Netflix” in the menu and tap on “update”.

How To Watch Netflix Offline?

So okay finally down to the section you’ve all been eagerly waiting for. Here’s How to Record Netflix Streaming Videos officially and legally!

Just Sign-in into your app on your iOS or Android device.

Tap the options button, and you’d see an “Available for download” option right above your TV shows.

This screen holds all the series and movies which are available for offline downloading. All you’ve got to do is, choose them and then click on the download button.

You should already see the new popup there telling you that now you can download that specific movie/ series offline.

Done! Once you do that, the downloading process will begin and you’ll be united with your favorite shows momentarily (depending on your Internet connection!)

Quality Selection:-

Netflix already stirred the world up with it’s “watch offline” announcement no doubt, but they didn’t forget to add some additional perks.

If you tap on the [bbuttoon] and scroll down to the “app settings” option, You get to a “downloads” heading.

This is where you can specify what quality you want to download the video in. Currently, two download qualities are available:-

  • Standard:- The lower quality.
  • High:- The highest possible quality you can download the file in.

This comes in handy in two conditions specifically:-

  • If you have a lower disk-space on your cell, choosing a lower resolution would considerably bring down the size of the file, and hence you can enjoy your favorite shows without expanding your memory.
  • If you’re on a slower connection, bringing the resolution down also brings the size down, and the size in return speeds up the downloading process. Or at least, gets downloaded faster. It’s, of course, easier to download 200mbs rather than 1GB, right?

How to Watch a Downloaded File?

Just tap on the options button in your Netflix account, and you’d see “My downloads” button right there along with other options.

This is the section you need to go to in order to access your downloaded videos and play them.

How to Delete a Downloaded File?

Of course, keeping a file there after you’ve finished watching it isn’t wise, right? And as I’m writing this “How To Watch Netflix Offline” article anyway, I thought why not cover all the bases.

So well how would you delete a downloaded file?

Tap on the “Edit” button on the top-right corner of your “my downloads” section.

And then you’d see a red “X” button. Just tap on it and your video is gone!

Wrapping it Up:-

So yeah that was all I had on “How to Watch Netflix offline” folks. I made sure I covered almost all the possible aspects with “Netflix offline feature”.

But in case I missed something and you’re stuck, do let me know. Also, I wouldn’t mind if you decide to promote us by sharing this piece on your Social media profiles. (I’m sure your friends would always remember who bought them “Netflix offline” for the first time, right?)
